What are cross exams for?

• Looking for flaws in the other teams reasoning
• Showing you are credible to the judge
• Giving your partner time to write their rebuttals
• Setting up for the next speak

Tips

• Don’t nit pik, focus on more generally important questions
• Be assertive, but calm and collected. Aggression makes you look worse, not better.
• Answer and ask questions that are meant to be heard judge, you’re still trying to convince the judge
• Keep questions argumentative, short, and specific, don’t ramble
• Don’t ask open ended questions, or else you’ll get a vague answer
• Don’t be afraid to spend a couple follow up questions to clarify things
• Make sure you’re asking a question instead of making a statements
